help me spend money :D

Is Legend of the Seeker any good? I've only seen raamdon episodes and can't decide if its worth buying on DVD. Or should I buy the books? Or neither?

I should post more often. I should make a post now talking about my fab new flat, the painting we are doing at the moment, other fun stuff.

All I can think about is that I was kicked out of a community I was part of where I downloaded TV shows for not posting enough, and I now have nowhere to download Supernatural.

I can live without Flash Forward and Witches of Eastwick, but I now have no access to Supernatural.

D: <- I am very sad face right now.

Its alive! Aliiiiiivee!

chipper

current location: work
current mood: chipper

I'm still alive, though if work continues like it is I may have to jump out of the nearest window.

Have not really been doing much of interest to anybody except me.

Am settled into Brighton now, just in time for John and I to start looking for a new flat. No more storage heaters, electric key meters (hopefully) and lack of space for a sofa! Maybe even somewhere were the windows close property, who knows! We preferably want a two bedroom place with double glazing and GCH but thats not so easy to find. I guess if we find somewhere were most of the important boxes are ticked, then we can forget the second bedroom. Would be nice to have somewhere to put visitors though.

Other then that, I have taken up pet collecting on World of Warcraft. Being a gnome warrior at only level 59 doesn't help much with that though, seeing as a lot of the pets can only be bought with seals you get doing level 80 battlegrounds :-/ Or from the auction house for stupid money.

Balls. My lunch is over and I still have flats to ring up about >.

musics!

February 28th, 2009 (09:43 am)

I downloaded a fanmix dedicated to zombies. My current favourite song is Jonathan Coultron's 'Your Brains' Extra genius points for including Kermit singing 'Its Not Easy Being Green' on the mix.

I'm currently trying to find a download of 'All Along the Watchtower'. I want the version from Battlestar Galactica. If anyone can help with that I'd be a very, very happy geek.

Speaking of which, I have so much love for last nights episode! But I can't say much because John is about a season behind me and he has a habit of reading over my shoulder as I type.

for f**ks sake

Why is it so hard to get cardboard boxes? Tesco have completly messed me about, for two days telling me 'come back tomorrow' and I go today to be told the boxes are locked up (?) and they can't get to them, and nobody told them I would be coming to collect them.

I do not need the extra fucking stress at the moment.

Cooking: wheat and gluten free bread

Ever a glutton for punishment, this weekend I thought I would try my hand at baking bread from scratch. Wheat and gluten free bread. This, it turns out, was a silly idea because its bloody hard!

bread of semi-FAIL behind this cut, includes a recipeCollapse )

Its tasty enough, but didn't rise at all and is very dense. I suspect it was something to do with the yeast. The recipe said to use quick yeast, and I used dried active yeast. I don't really understand the difference between the two, but evidently there must be a difference.

Also, the recipe was on the back of the bread flour packet, and was not particularly descriptive. I was lucky that I chatted to Leu and Nic at Becca's birthday (Nic has a wheat intolerance) and they warned me that the bread mix would be very very sticky, but not to worry and do not add more flour.

I will try again in a week or two and see if I can find a more descriptive recipe online to use.

I did make saag aloo for dinner for John and I, but as I used jar sauce I don't count that as cooking to be posted. Even though it was nom.

* If using dried active yeast, where you have to reactivate the yeast in water before you use it, I suppose this would be the best time to add the yeast. I added it with the dry ingredients and suspect that may be a reason why the bread didn't rise.
**Mine didn't rise. This was when I began to suspect something had gone very wrong :-/

Finally, success! And they are tasty too, if I do say so myself ;) Not keen on the ready made icing though... Also, my first attempt at piping icing didn't turn out too badly.

cupcake success! with pictures!Collapse )

I used this Rainbow Cupcake recipe

view of the snow from the flat

This is a picture of the snow, as taken from the attic room. Isn't the view of Brighton amazing! The only way it could be better is if it was a view of the sea. As it is, I kind of like how it looks, with all the snow on the roofs.

It was even better on fireworks night. We could see at least three different displays, all from the relative warmth of the flat <3
